Afternoon Tea at Waddesdon Manor
This weekend, for my birthday I was treated to the most phenomenal traditional afternoon tea. Afternoon tea has always been my favourite type of ‘meal’, so I was really looking forward to seeing what Waddesdon Manor had to offer!
Arriving at the destination was an experience in itself, from catching the scenic shuttle bus to the peaceful walk up to the manor with the warm sun that highlighted the pristine architecture of the palace. The entire location just screams serene, with crowds of trees, heaps of grass and the air was crisp and fresh. Waddesdon Manor is a country house in the village of Waddesdon, in Buckinghamshire, as one of the last of the forty-four 19th century Rothschild houses, Waddesdon Manor is the cornerstone of The Rothschild Foundation.
The afternoon tearoom was lovely, with wooden panels and rustic copper pans that dressed parts of the wall, creating a dated yet fresh feel to the environment. All of the staff were wonderful, very helpful and highly attentive to the table’s needs. They welcomed us with warm smiles and made us feel very comfortable.
The food was exquisite, each slice, slither, serving was like a burst of flavour in my mouth! You could tell that each portion had been made with love, they were delicate, delicious and left you wanting a lot more! The menu was perfect, and the sizes were ideal, they didn’t over do it! The afternoon tea offers a selection of savory treats including: Cucumber Sandwich, A tart of peas and ricotta, Dauphinoise potatoes with soured cream, Smoked salmon, cream cheese and asparagus roulade and An open sandwich of free range egg mayonnaise with rocket. Not forgetting the selection of delicious pastries: White chocolate tiramisu, Lemon tart, Pistachio and praline macaroon, Home made cranberry scone with lemon curd and clotted cream all served with a selection of teas. All of which were a combination of true satisfaction.
I highly recommend this experience, the atmosphere was delightful and the tastes are unforgettable. It’s great to get out of the city and be amongst nature. Waddesdon Manor is beautiful; you should definitely go and see for yourselves!
