Gaucho, Canary Wharf, London
Gaucho is the destination for a marvellously meaty, mouthwatering meal that will send your taste buds into overdrive. This place is renowned for it’s tender and flavoursome selection of meat, flawless customer service and wild interiors.
We visited one of the Gaucho restaurants located with in the heart of Canary Wharf. It's carefully placed in front of the River Thames and is the perfect landscape depending on where you sit inside. Looking out onto the water is another addition to the reason why you'll feel content, relaxed and swept away. Not only will the soothing ambience soak you on your way in, but the soft bluesy music and sultry decor will have you weak at the knees. You have the option to start with drinks at the bar or straight in for your meal. I can see why it is great idea for both types of doings.
Once we sat down, our lovely and extremely knowledgeable waitress gave us the low down on the menu, the meat and the restaurants background. The waitress brought out an array of beefs all in different cuts, of course she clued us up on what was what, what wine would go with each one and the reasoning behind why we would love it! We decided to go for their current lunch menu, ‘Feel Good, Feel Great’.
The concept behind this menu is of two distinct sides. With so many Londoners turning to clean healthy living, Gaucho’s ‘Feel Good’ menu promises all the mouth-watering indulgences associated with the Argentine steak restaurant, without feeling the regret. Whilst Gaucho’s ‘Feel Great’ menu offers the chance to elevate your lunch to the kind of decadence and indulgence that makes you want to shout with joy and then swiftly take a nap!
We opted in for the Feel Great Menu, we love to indulge once in a while and that particular menu stood out to us. Gaucho’s ‘Feel Great’ menu allows to you enjoy a cold glass of Pilsner beer with Gaucho’s famous beef empanadas or crispy fried provoleta cheese to start, with the choice of a rib-eye steak accompanied by chips cooked in beef dripping or a chicken milanesa with aubergine and mozzarella for main. And for dessert, a dulce de leche banana split or a delicious orange bread and butter pudding, with vanilla ice cream.
The menu is brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed each of the dishes. The fried provoleta cheese was a definite favourite but, the rib-eye steak was the winner, so succulent and juicy, I don’t think I’ve tasted a steak quite like it. Seen as they specialise in meat, you know you’re in good hands when it comes down to ordering one! It’s best complimented by a red wine and I’m sure the waitress/waiter will assist you in making the best choice. The journey we experienced with Gaucho was extremely satisfying, the service was impeccable and the food was abundantly fulfilling. You’re bound to walk away in either a food coma with a smile on your face or a feeling of complete contentment!
